Academy Of Champions player David Hogan won his first tiltle since turning pro when he played great match snooker to win the 2009 Israel Irish GINKO Academy Snooker Masters in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow.
In the final David beat Vincent Muldoon 6 frames to 4 to take the 500 euro first prize.
Hogan led 5-0 but Muldoon came back with a string of breaks including 74, 76, and 100 breaks to close the gap to 4-5 but in frame 10 Hogan made a stunning 64 break to win the Academy title.
Six of my Academy players played in the event and the overall standard was superb with a number of brilliant matches and high beaks.
I feel it was great training for my Academy players with all the matches best of 9 framesThe Ivy Rooms snooker club was a great match venue for the tournament and i am already looking forward to making it a bigger event including more players in my Academy next season.
J
ason Devaney played great snooker all week to beat Shachar Ruberg from Israel 4 frames to 3 to take 3rd place prize.
Shachar also had an outstanding event with group match wins over three of the Republic Of Ireland best juniors in Jason Devaney, Greg Casey and David Cassidy and with more training and experience i believe he can become a top player in the next few season.
Vincent Muldoon had the highest break with a 100 break in the final.
The Tournament was sponsored by Ginko Oil & Gas Exporation in Israel and it is hoped to make the event an annual tournament in Ireland.
Albert Zaint manager of Shachar Ruberg and promoter of the event presented the prizes to all the players and he was delighted with the entire event.
Greg Casey and David Cassidy finished equal 5th in the event but they enjoyed the tournament and it was good practice for next month's Home Internationals in Pontins.
